Here Come The Canes
My car seemed to be controlling me yesterday. I drive by the RBC Center everyday on my way home from work. Yesterday, seemingly on auto pilot, I got off the highway at Edwards Mill Road and headedinto the RBC parking lot. What was I doing? Trying to capture the excitement that the Carolina Hurricanes have created around here.
I have been watching the Carolina Hurricanes win some exciting games. Probably the most exciting finishes that I have ever seen in playoff hockey. I grew up a Chicago Blackhawks fan. Even though I once went to a Hurricanes game wearing a Blackhawks jersey, I have been fully cheering for the Hurricanes ever since their playoff run in 2002.
I got in line to buy some playoff tickets against the Boston Bruins. The line was long but moved quickly. I bought 3 tickets for next Friday’s game. I know that there are no guarantees, but I want to be part of the excitement of playoff hockey.
On my way out from the ticket office, I spotted a car that had a NC licsense plate with “GO PATS” on it. It made me realize that there are a lot of transplants that have moved here from the Northeast. Another man asked me in his best Boston accent, “are there any tickets left?” I said, yes, after I told him, ‘hey you’re from Boston’. He pointed to his clothes and smiled, he was someone from Boston who was wearing a Red Hurricane’s jersey. It ought to be an interesting series.

Cool! You got tickets! I went to the game where they made the winning goal in .02 seconds! Boy was it exciting! Hopefully your game will be just as exciting.
