Popcorn At Home

I still have to admit that I love popcorn at the theatre, even though it is definitely not a health food.  It becomes addictive, and usually turns into a meal.  At home, we used to use microwave popcorn; but in all honesty, while it’s easier, it turns out to be expensive per serving.

We usually now, just buy a bag of yellow popcorn for about a buck and pop it ourselves.  There is something neat about heating up some oil and putting a kernel in and waiting for it to pop.  Yes, I have to shake the pot after adding the pop corn; but it is only for a minute or two.  And then once the popcorn has popped, I get to add real melted butter to the corn instead of the oil or whatever it is added at theatres and in microwave bags.

I have made kettle popcorn that doesn’t use butter just some salt and sugar and it is good too.
