Children’s Medicine Flavors & Food

My family is pretty much a chocolate family when it comes to desserts.  I like fruit desserts a lot.  Therefore, as you have probably guessed, I don’t get to eat a lot of those at home, I get outvoted!

Well it is February, National Cherry Month;thanks George.  So I had a hankering for a cherry pie, mmm.  I went for it, using Oregon tart cherries.

After cooking the pie, I talked my daughter into trying a piece with ice cream.  I told her if you don’t like it, I will eat the rest.  She ate it up, but she did comment that when she had a piece of the cherry, it tasted like medicine!  I quickly checked the can for the experation date, no that was fine.  I tasted a piece myself, I thought it was good!?

Well, it must have been her childhood memories of cherry flavor cough syrup, cherry flavor antibiotics, maybe even cherry flavored vitamins.  Oh my, I wonder what she would have done with desserts, if she grew up on  chocolate flavored medicine!
