Where you on on Sept. 11, 2001?
When an extrodinary event happens, the moment can freeze in your brain so you can always remember what you were doing when that event happened.
I remember exactly what I was doing when I watched Neil Armstrong take is first step on the moon in 1969. I remember where I was when John Lennon got killed in 1980, when the Challenger exploded in 1986, and of course when terrorists attacked our country…
Seven years ago I was working nights doing the 10:00 News on WB22 in Raleigh. So on the morning of September 11th, 2001, I was sleeping, since I worked late. My wife called a little after 9am from her work and told me she heard something about a crash in New York.
So I turned on the television and sat in bed all morning watching the events unfold. I remember flipping over to ABC and watching Diane Sawyer, at the very time when she and Charlie Gibson were showing live pictures of the first building smoking. I watched her reaction as she saw the second plane fly into the building on live tv. It was very disturbing to see. At that point, I new that the first crash wasn’t an accident. I finally got ready for work and drove into work around 2:30 pm in silence.
