Make Shift Birdbath
We have a hummingbird feeder on our deck. It is filled with sugar water for the hummingbirds. We unfortunately haven’t seen many this year. That however doesn’t mean that the feeder hasn’t been active. 
On top of the feeder is a bowl of water, this is supposed to prevent the ants from getting to the sugar water.
We other birds, wrens, gold finches, blue jays and cardinals have been using the water as a drinking source and a place to splash some water on themselves. My wife has even seen what looks like a line of birds waiting to use it!
I don’t know if this is keeping the hummingbirds away but it is quite fun to watch.
