To Seed Or Not To Seed
As August winds down, now is the time to plan on what to do with your yard.
Every year I have gotten the roundup out and killed the weeds and Bermuda grass. Every year it comes back.
Last year I aerated and seeded but couldn’t water the seeds because of the drought. So some of my killed [...]
Watermelon Selection
On a summer day I love a good slice of watermelon and how it can quench your thirst and hunger. I used to think that watermelon wasn’t a healthy fruit because it had a lot of sugar. Well now I realize that is a healthy fruit with liposyne. So I love eating watermelon guilt free.
But, I [...]
Winter Prediction
Just read that the new Farmer’s Almanac, which is coming out soon, the almanac is forecasting a cold winter for most of the U.S.
Now I enjoy reading the Almanac, but when forecasters have a problem getting the current movement of Fay correct; I don’t put much credibility in the Almanac making predictions months to years in [...]
Coho Salmon On The Grill

This August started out hot but we have had a nice break from the heat with yesterday’s [...]
Gas Prices: Faster Up, Slower Down

Now back at the end of April as oil reached $116 a barrel, average retail gas was $3.50 to $3.60 a gallon.
It seems that [...]
Gas prices and renting a car.
Just spent some driving up in the Northeast where gas prices are still over $4 a gallon in New York and Connecticut.
I rented a car and got the pre-paid tank option where you can return the car on fumes if you want. I paid $4.35 a gallon for a full tank of gas in New [...]
