Beware Of Volcano Lightning Storms
There is a volcano that has erupted in Chile for the first time in over 1,000 years. It is the Chaiten (Shy-den) volcano located in southern Chile. The tremendous amount of hot ash rising through the sky can build up electrical charges that when sufficient can be discharged as huge electrical storms. Check this picture out.
The town of Chaiten has been evacuated and it is the only town around the volcano so hopefully no one will get hurt, but all along the Andes in South America, there is the potential for more volcanoes to become active in areas with high populations.
