Ask, and ye shall recieve.
I subscribe to Sports Illustrated and just got my automatic renewel notice for about $66 year. I had been sent from a magazine subscription company a preferred subscriber list of magazines. Now, I don’t know why I am on a “preferred” list, but they offered Sports Illustrated for $49 a year. So I called subcriptions at Sports Illustrated and mentioned my other offer to the operator. 
I asked her, ‘do I need to cancel my current subscription and then send in my other offer to subcribe again, or could she just renew me for the $49 rate’?
Well she informed me that she could renew my subscription at the rate I paid last year when I got a deal to sign up for only $39!
This was great, I offered $49 and she gave it to me for $39.
Lesson learned, it never hurts to ask, for a better deal.
