Things You Find In Your Yard
Our recent rain has caused my grass and weeds to start growing, albeit unevenly; but the greening of my yard caused me to fire up the mower for the first cut of the year on Sunday. Usually, on the first cut, you have to deal with small tree branches and pine cones that have fallen during the storms of winter. I had those picked up, but as I turned from my back yard to my side yard, I almost ran over a shutter! After I saw what it was and that it was my color, I thought, ‘how did I not notice a shutter missing from the front of my house’?! I get paid to observe when making a weather forecast, but I guess I wasn’t very observant about my own house. Upon viewing the front of my house, there it was, the very obvious missing shutter. The very obvious missing shutter way up high on my second story. It must have been the strong winds from Saturday. Interestingly, when Hurricane Fran came through in 1996, I only lost a screen; Saturday’s wind left me shutter-less. So now I have to figure a way to lean out my very high up bedroom window and somehow nail the shutter back in place, or I could wait to see if anyone notices.
